I'm at work just reading through some of the job forums on allakhazam. Seems to be a lot of fighting between BRDs and CORs. And BLUs need access to sea to get 7 of their spells.

I don't know if it was a direct rivalry, or more just a not wanting to have two aoe-buff jobs in the same party. Apparently have a BRD and COR in the same party is pretty good, people just don't do it. I could see that being the case.

I had a Brd and Cor at Main the other day with a party of 70-72s. We were getting like 12k/hr, it was amazing.

Yes to an extent it can, especially in some circumstances. COR is really powerful, but you can still have bad luck and bust on a roll haha. COR buffs do stack with BRD songs and really most COR rolls (the ones that are worthwhile) do something much different than what BRD songs do. BRD still has debuffs and COR has none. COR + BRD is pretty badass though.

That's not totally true about the debuffs. Not native debuffs yeah, but the power to strengthen other PC enfeebles is nice. Slow2 + Earth Shot increases the potency of the slow effect and that's just one example.

Yeah but that isn't really a debuff itself. It is basically like a threnody but does more damage lol. Well not sure if it lowers resist to a certain element like threnody does, but it does damage and strengthens a debuff. COR can't crowd control either (no aoe sleep or sleep period). Just a elemental shot that strengthens debuffs, but doesn't make that big a difference. Slow + Earth shot still isn't as powerful as Carnage Elegy lol.

Fighter's Roll is pretty awesome, especially for any kind of "TP Burn" party. From my experience, the amount of Double Attack you get from Fighter's Roll is more Double Attack than you get with a WAR sub.

Pair that with the THF roll, which increases people's critical hit rate (also a lot) and you've got a hell of a lot of extra damage output on your melee, especially if your party is mostly WAR/NIN/MNK/etc.

Corsair can also output some damage of their own between rolls. It's not a lot of damage but 500+ damage Slug Shots here and there are welcome.

Corsair doesn't "replace" bard, so to speak. It does mostly the same job, just in a different way. But yeah, pairing a Corsair with a Bard on a melee heavy party (like almost all "good" 75 merit parties) is actually pretty damn good.

Slow2 is pretty goddamn beastly, even without upgrades beyond buying it. Slow and elegy stack anyway, and both would be powered up by the same element shot, so the comparison can't really be made, or doesn't need to be made. With just slow2 on something like an Abraxas in lufaise meadows, which attack pretty fast, I have time to get off a cure4 entirely between its attacks without getting touched at the beginning or end of cast, that's elegy-like slowness. You could test the slow% in diorama ballista though just to be exact.

Well, I talked to Katariana about Ridere. Looks like I won't be getting him back. She did say she may help me get all the +1 staves back that she either sold, or gave away to other people, though. We'll have to see. I forgot to ask about the Lu Shang's, but I'll ask about that, too.

I won't hold my breath, though. :P

Yeah it is lame considering you leveled the character and gave it an identity. Well I don't know if you had a prior agreement with Kat regarding that character or not. I hope you get your HQ staves back at least.

A year and change is a long time to grow attached to an account. I can't really blame her all that much. I did unload a lot of money into gear and tradeskills and stuff, so it was a pretty good account to be given for free. Even if she did say she'd give it back if I came back :P

I just really don't want to do the whole 10,000 moat carp, 8 +1 staves and CoP missions again. I don't mind the idea of leveling again all that much. It's kind of neat being a n00b again and seeing how easier it is my 2nd time through, now that I know what I'm doing.

There are just some tedious stuff I don't want to have to do again. haha. Getting groups together for CoP missions will probably be tough.

As for Pintsize, the awesome new Tarutaru... He's 16 now, close to 17. My roommate and I will be making the trip to Jeuno soon, and we're preparing ourselves for a (long time) (/cry) at the Auction House prices.
