License board not finished, I'm doing hunts now. I think kluya mentioned a pathetic asshole at his gamestop bragging about putting 80 hours in one week, well he can go and tell him I put in 85 in 5 days! huzzah!

I'm exactly 10 hours in now and liking it more and more. I fucking love the music and voice acting. Watching the cutscenes is like watching a movie, even the non FMV ones. Balthier is a badass and so far my favorite person in the game. I understand gambits better and like them. I like the boss fights so far. I really have no complaints.

I haven't been using the guide at all. Last night I looked back on stuff I already did, to see what I've missed. Looks like I opened 3 of the chests you are not supposed to open for the ultimate spear lol. Oh well...

The voice acting is friggin stunning. Balthier is funny as hell and any scene with a Judge is like watching a kickass movie. The Judges just have the best lines in the whole thing.

Yeah the voice acting is good, just the speech doesn't usually match up too well with the lip movements. Not a big deal but it is noticeable. The battle system is KotoR with Quickenings and Espers added in almost. The whole fake real time system with AI for 3 characters and queued attacks. Works really well and getting all the tiers of quickenings makes the bigger fights much easier.

I am leveling all my 6 characters at the same time, keeping them all the same level by switching them in and out. I farm up alot of LP that way and I am 14/18 on quickenings around level 20ish. On bosses I do 3 people and do a tier 2 quickening then tier 2 on the next 3 people after I switch them in. Bosses are usually dead after that at this point. I have gambits for phoenix down/raise, hp related cure and potion gambits etc. Gambit system works ok for the type of battles that go on in this game so far. I have Balthier going polearm and gun, Vaan is sword, Basch is axe/hammer and bow, Fran is bow and polearm, Ashe is sword/dagger and staff and Penelo uses staves.

The biggest difference maker seems to be using LP to upgrade Channeling (less MP cost), Swiftness (10% reduction in action time omgz), Martyr (take dmg get MP) and the ability where you get MP for killing things helps as well. Charge on gambit when you have little to no MP is a must. I have gambits to cast buffs as well and for certain debuffs. Really open up as many gambit slots as early as possible. I haven't seen much use for espers really as with well managed gambits you can basically win any fight in the game without even touching the controller so far.

Anyone understand and can show me how they work?

EDIT: Also, Eter, I would LOVE to make a Charge Gambit for low MP, however I don't have that one yet... I am anxiously waiting though! :D

Well you can chain quickenings, the names of the 3 character in your party appear on the screen with a corresponding button next to each one. You hit the button to continue the chain, when it gets to the last person you have to hit R2 (basically spam it) to make another button appear next to a person's name and you hit that to finish the quickening. It seems to have a luck factor to it. Thats the gist of quickenings from what I see so far.

You have to get the Self: MP < 10% gambit target or 20 or 30 percent works ok. I would go for charge when under 10%, well whenever you get that target.

He's in the back of that airport room. He is in your party, but he is standing there as an NPC. Go talk to him and tell him you are ready. You are almost exactly where I am in the game Mikey! I just got to bhujerbajhasjkdhjkahcx.
