This here is the result of advice i gave to a friend. He wanted the game and i simply told him, get it off torrent. He asked me how to do it, and i told him to go to google and type torrent tracker and find one with the game he wanted. A few days later he tells me about this and i felt bad at first, but then he told me he talked to a well known lawyer that dealt with digital stuff like these kinds of lawsuits, and he was told some interesting things. Pretty much what he was told was to stop the "uploading" (and for the time being downloads too because he was going to be monitored for a period of time) and ignore the email. He advised he got a better internet provider (one which wont just give out your information) and to disable p2p "sharing". Interesting how things work eh? I never thought someone would get a feedback like that from a lawyer in a situation like this.

At least they're warning you so you know you've been caught. Man stealing shit off the internet is such a bad idea.

We all steal one thing or another at one point. Get over it.
Anyways, it seems like comcast still wont release private information to any 3rd party, the last action taken by comcast is cancellation of the account. (from what he tells me)

lol Comcast is so gay, I bet they ratted on him the corporate whores that they are and all. Well I have been d/ling shit for free off of p2p sharing since 1997 and all I have had happen was being banned from Napster for downloading a Metallica song I already had the CD for. I still torrent shit, but its not as bad as it used to be.

you should download from private tracker sites.

I don't think he used a private tracker. trackers such as isohunt and mininova aren't private thus allowing the corporate guys to legally monitor connections, private trackers have a disclaimer when you make an account that puts the corpies under the table. I don't think downloading is the problem, openly and publically uploading is the catch.
