The only downside is that I have two IDE HDDs in addition to my main 200g SATA drive. The MB I have now only has 1 IDE spot and thats got to be used for my IDE DVD-RW. So as of right now Im a little low on HD space. only 100g free.

This computer is smoking fast. I get 70+ fps at 1280x1024 with max everything. The only time i get a slow down is in shatt and it dips down to 40 at its lowest.

oops yeah, I should have mentioned I was playing wow lol.

I also played HL2 cranked right up and it runs smooth as butter. Crysis seems to be the only game that gives my computer a run for its money.

I am VERY happy with the preformance so far

I just realized today that I bought the wrong model motherboard. It's totally my own stupidity. I just wasnt paying attention.

The price should have been a big indicator. The difference is like 180 to 230. So Im going to exchange my MB on monday. Kioto is this similar to what you have? Also I have "OCZ SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory" since it was cheap lol, but now Im thinking I might want to OC my setup (very slightly). Is this ram OK to use?

If you can find the 122-CK-NF68-A1 model, then change for that because as far as i know all of the other eVGA boards are crappy compared to it, otherwise stick to the 122-CK-NF67-T1(nForce 680i LT SLi) model, the SE(nForce 680i SE SLi) is going to give you headaches specially if you do want to OC, it doesn't like quads.

First for foremost check if the memory is supported here: http://www.evga.com/support/mbmem/ (usually OCZ is widely supported but...). I don't know exactly which model you have (listing model numbers would help me find it) but if you have the OCZ2N800SR4GK model you might have problems since it's not supported yet and eVGA is picky about ram. Using good memory you can squeeze a good 100-150mhz out of each chip, but it takes a bit of tweaking. You also don't have to OC the ram if you don't want to.
My setup is a little different yarr, i have a duo core 3ghz, you have a quad core 2.4ghz; i have a Abit board, you have a eVGA board; i have corsair ram, you have OCZ...

I think Im just going to leave it as is. Id like to overclock, but at the same time. I dont want to deal with headaches. I spend all day long fixing computers. The last thing I want is to have to sit around troubleshooting my own computer. Its a pain in the ass.

The current MB I have isnt going to kill me, its only going to be an issue if I overclock. So Im just going to leave the MB as is and upgrade it in a year or so and then OC my CPU till it dies and upgrade that next.

OCZ ram is some of the best to overclock. go to bios and push those voltages sky high. if your ram blows up and the little sticker is still on the ram your covered for life no matter what you voltages you put in;p

honestly not the best idea to go sky high without cooling on it but going 2 or 3 increments cant kill you

in response to panther (finally lol) its the new Intel chip LGA 775 and 771 (so im hearing from the ppl at the top) on a stock motherboard, stock card(i forget which) and stock memory the top end chip which is 3.0ghz at 1100$ can do the first million digits of pi in 8 seconds. id tell you the other benches but i assume youve never heard of them but pi is pretty standard.

without any modifications other then cooling the cpu, the preview of the chip was pushed to 5.5ghz from 3.0ghz on tape at intel IDF i put the video up i think >.> . after which more top OC'ers got the chip 6gz has been broken with it close to sub 8sec timings for pi...

basically it is |sic| the AMD phenoms have been compared to it with no contest

the reviews im looking at show that the current barcelonas/phenom can just barely match if barely beat the xtreme intel series 6600-6800 (i believe). the problem is the new intel yorkfields make those xtreme series' chips look like umm, my chances of getting a gf >.>

when you take the new Phenoms of 2.4ghz 4mb cache and compare it to the new yorkfields coming out of 2.2-3.0ghz 16mb cache. is a big gap.

the phenoms are cheaper though 2.4ghz yorkfield will be about 316$ USD
2.4ghz Phenom will be about 279$ (high wattage though)

so more to AMDs slum its in. they say however that AMD is working on their own version of the 45nm chip in '08, while Intel has the even faster naleham (sp?) coming out late '08

the quote i got from the forums i read was that: "Intel has the nalehem(sp?) ready to ship Q1 of '08 if AMD's new chip poses as a competitor to the Penryn (yorkfield), but have seen no really competition from the previews of it."

I'm glad you guys have been able to help Yarr out so much with the researching. He often asked me and I have absolutely NO CLUE about any of this. lol I'm not ashamed of that either. His new computer really is great and I caught him hugging it once. We'll take a picture of him with it once he's completely happy with the set-up.

Ah... looks like you went 1 step farther than I did with my parts I just recently bought. I ended up buying everything top to bottom and spent about 1200.

Should get all my new toys to put together monday or tuesday... once it's up and going I can finally get rid of my 5 year old pos.
