Then your not against gay marriage, your against abuse of tax breaks for any marriage whatsoever. Why? So what if two people get married for the purpose of tax breaks. Family's with children get better breaks because thay have children. Some may do it out of need, others greed. What should it matter, the codes are there to benfit those who need.

Taking an all or nothing attitude is only going to increase the likelyhood that couples will have children for the sake of tax breaks. Then you have a bunch of kids around for the purpose of money and not out of desire for the child. As any family consul can tell you, children raised for such reasons are much more likely to be criminals.

Since when have I taken an all or nothing attitude? I'm for gay unions, as it's a compromise.

Actually, you stated that unless your in a marriage with children(adopted or natural) then you should recieve no tax breaks. That elminates the gray area of being married and recieving tax breaks for being married and places the constraint that you must have children in order to qualify for the breaks. Thus, its all or nothing.

Which...is how it should be. The tax breaks there RIGHT NOW are for having children. If people aren't having children, they shouldn't get them. Is that too much of an abstract concept?

No where in the tax code does it state that tax breaks for married persons are for the explicit purpose to encourage child bearing. Tax breaks are for the express purpose of of getting more money back to the consumer so the consumer can spend it in the market place. Clothes, houses, cars, food, and frivilious items are all taxable purchases. This also drives a better and stronger economy because the consumer market has increased it's proverbial wallet.

Actually "who won" can be easily decided by one smart man in a suit. Winning is not a contemplative concept. Gore won the election, and lost the election at the same time.

Example:

75 people who couldn't tell their me what a democrat stands for tell me Kerry wins.

2 Validictorians tell me Bush won.

Who won?

It was a good debate. I was kind of annoyed when Bush ducked the minimum wage question like a bullet in slow mo, and then Kerry turns around and ducked the question about how he's going to pay for his health care plan, which apparently covers all americans now?

Kerry also dodged the flu vaccine question, instead rambling on about health care. What does our healthcare plans have to do with not having enough flu vaccine available? Bush really impressed me with his honesty on how the order was contaminated and what they were doing to get an alternate supply made, but in the meantime asked people to be considerate of the elderly and the young.

The major fuckup in this one was Kerry bringing up Cheney's daughter when they were discussing the issues surrounding marriage. That was about as cheap a shot as you can get in my opinion, and totally out of line.

Overall I felt Bush won by a reasonable amount, but didn't get quite to the level of win that Kerry did in the first debate. This election is going to come down to that last electoral vote again, I can feel it.

Senator Kerry's response was that the flu vaccine shortage was a problem with our Healthcare system. I apparently am failing to connect the dots on how getting a contaminated batch of the Flu Vaccine is the fault of our healthcare system. Our domestic drug companies, not to be confused with the healthcare system itself, do not want to produce the vaccine because it is a financially risky venture. I'm not really sure it would be legal to actually "force" them to produce the vaccine. We could perhaps induce them to do it by offering them immunity from lawsuits over the vaccines, but I doubt medical litigation was a topic Kerry wanted to touch with a 10 foot pole.

Perhaps they could follow in suit of so many programmes and subsidize the production of the vaccine.

Ya, watching Kerry pissed me off. Bush was super charasimatic (the closing where they talked about their wives and families, classic. "How do you respond to the powerful women in your lives?" "You listen to them") I think Bush really showed some honesty up there, and basically clenched it for me, personally, that he's going to be the guy I'm voting for.

I just didn't really like how Kerry played ball.

What really worries me and should worry everyone in our generation is that Kerry clearly stated that he would not do anything to the social security system, in fact he wants more of the same which basically means our generation will be paying for our grandparent's retirments but we aint never gonna get crap because social security will have failed by the time we get around to collecting it. At least Bush has a plan for this, he would allow us to put our money into accounts that would be ours. I really liked it when Bush pointed out that kerry was saying he would be spending government money, "No, it's not government money, its our money" I'm glad Bush realises this, Kerry on the other hand i think he thinks it really is the governments to do with as they see fit.

 I was impressed with his response regarding how he plans to pay for it.

Kerry: We will tax the top 1% to pay for the social security.

Hello, YOU DUMB ARSE. You already tax the top 2% to pay for your health care + no child left behind plans. You just said it like 30 minutes ago.

You guys have no clue how upset I was last night when I was watching the debate. Kerry came of as a totally dumb arse and have absolutely no plan. Well, he does, his plans will work if you were in a dream world that you can just tax the same 2% over and over for everything out there you want to do. I am sorry to say this, but I am glad I am not a citizen of the U.S. and I don't have to vote for your president. I thought the election in Taiwan was bad, but this is just about as sad as what happened in Taiwan.

This is the libertarian candidate's webpage:
http://www.badnarik.org

He has a section called Plans for America. He talks so much sense. It's a shame Americans have this prejudice that 3rd party candidates would sit down in the Oval Office and suddenly the nation would turn to hell.
