Bahamut looks sort of like a fat lizard and t-rex mix... the wings look like an afterthought...

Lol Bahamut is supposed to be the king of dragons but also always the most retarded looking of all of them in any FF game. Oh well, his artwork looks bad but he looked rather awesome in the end of an era trailer.

I kinda feel bad for Limsa. The other two cities look really beautified, but Limsa more or less appears to be the same. It's rather gray and colorless. I kinda feel like its the Bastok of 14. Personally, I'm ok with that (Bastok was my homeland as well) but I'm afraid a lot of players may turn their noses up at it.

I wonder what changes were made to the battle system aside from tweaking the global cool down timers? Or if anything was changed beyond simply that.

lol I actually like the way Limsa looked in these pictures. Uldah is the city I never liked, and still don't. I'm sure i's partially because I was forced to spend so much time there since Uldah is everybody's favorite town.

I'm also from Bastok and agree LL relates the best out of the 3 towns.

I like Grid the best, reminds me of Windy. I really hated LL and the surrounding areas in 1.0, but these screenshots make it seem better.

I like Limsa for it's red banners. haha. I got my chocobo from Limsa, due to that. And any sort of city-based choice, if it involves the color red, I'll be picking Limsa.

I thought the surrounding areas of it looked nice. And I liked the music around Ul'dah, even if the town was dull. Gridania, as a town was decent, but the shroud really made me sad. I started off in Grid, thinking that'd make a good choice for a mage char, or whatever. Guess it really doesn't matter, though.

I almost wanted to go with Limsa for the red stuff, but I didn't like being there at all. I figured anything related to the company probably wouldn't be the best items to use forever so it doesn't matter too much.

i always thought limsa was the best looking town and had the best looking surrounding lands. i thought it was obvious they spent more time creating it compared to uldah and gridania. i started in uldah because i thought it would be the least populated since it's kinda dull and ugly.

but now that they've revamped everything, who knows...

The Armoury Board is now the Armoury Chest. As previously speculated, it looks to be a completely separate equipment-only inventory. You then drag items from here to your gear sets. That way, the item can be in multiple gear sets.

You can also see the "content finder" too. Looks like it shows all the quests you haven't done and/or know about and you can tick them as stuff you want to do.

I love the idea of having gear sets, especially being able to share an item between them.

I'm pretty excited about phase 3, but I've been doing so much in Minecraft lately, and I've lost a ton of weight. One of the three things will have to give in a few weeks. I'm really hoping it won't be the weight loss. haha

Character Creator got some upgrades:

- Much larger color palette.
- More tattoo options (stars, chocobos, lines, full face paint).
- New hairstyles.
- Long hair options.
- Sliders for sizes instead of Small/Medium/Large.
- Extra size customization (ears, more?).

Getting in Character

Hey guys!
Fernehalwes here.

We've received a two-tonze truckload of feedback on character creation since the alpha test, and from what I saw in today's build, much has changed since then. If you thought there were a lot of options before, wait until you see all the new ways to customize your avatar, including...

An extended hair color palette, plus a plethora of playful tattoos.
Image

Several new hairstyles for men...
Image

Several new hairstyles for women, including...OMG! Long hair options! And is that a SLIDER on the right for ear size!?
Image

And a slider for height!? What else could there be a slider for!?!??
Image

And purple whiskers!? And purple eyes!?
Image

And OH MY GOD MY EYES THE RED IT BURNS!
Image

Get ready to let your imagination run wild!

Fernehalwes.

Just work out for 15 minutes a day, that's only 1% of your day. You'd be surprised at what you can do if you use that time every day for fitness. It doesn't even need to be intense for you to feel better overall.

Also, while I like the plethora of options we are getting for character customization, I feel very uneasy about the people that go full retard when they make characters and what kind of abominations we can expect to see.

PS3 version.

Note that a bunch of the images have been upscaled to some odd resolution, which is why the image quality looks low. Not saying the PS3 version doesn't look worse, but upscaling it to 863p doesn't exactly help it. Compare the first three to the last one (at full size, you can click em) and you'll see what I mean. It's not too bad for 2006 hardware.

Also, the tank sucks. No enmity in any screenshot.

Yikes... at full size those look like shit. Wonder how long its gonna take to start hearing how PS3 is holding back the graphics like PS2 did for ffxi.

I dont think we need to worry about that with FFXIV since the PC version was built first.

Its really coming along well. Mikey was down for the weekend (Talisin got married) and for the life of me I couldnt convince him to start playing casually. With Mikey there is no such thing as a casual MMO.

I have the same problem as Mikey ( or at least we share this one). i tend to be either "fully on" and spend 4+ hrs 6+ days a week on an MMO or I quit it entirely. I don't think i've ever played a MMO casually. Either I enjoy it a lot and want to play nonstop or I'm burnt out and just fulfilling my raiding/guild obligations until I decide to actually quit.

Wasn't the main problem with the PS2 storage space, moreso that graphics quality? I know that FF11 wasn't at the bleeding edge of graphics, due to PS2, but it still looked decent. I think they did a good job making things look quite pretty with a "lower end" graphics engine, compared to other games.

I'd be fine with FF14 always looking the way it does right now. What I don't want, however, are 5 expansions where "new" zones are just slightly different versions of existing zones, so that they can save on space, and lack of tons of new and exciting armor/weapons/other things that take up space. That was my biggest gripe with the PS2 limitations issue.

I really don't think that'll be a problem wtih 14 (Fingers crossed) Not with GB of storage on even the smallest PS3's.

Edit: And Dmitry, I do 90 minutes of cardio a night right now, and 3 hours a day on the weekend. haha. So cutting it down to 15 minutes a night is one of my concerns. At least not until I get to a maintenance weight. That's probably a few months off. But I got the Rocky theme going, so I'm sure I'll do fine. Having a PS3 in my room with the exercise stuff helps, too. I can just rock ARR on the PS3.

Honestly, all PS3s can have their hard drives upgraded to a larger one. I understand that may be beyond most people's capabilities, but that shouldn't limit FFXIV at all considering there are still 20GBs out there somewhere and it's still being made for it.
