always follow the chain of command.. ALWAYS. If you don't give people the chance to correct their errors before you go up the chain, it makes you look like a jackass. It could be that your manager doesn't realize that the new hires suck monkey balls and you just need to speak up. Never be afraid to approach management with a problem. Creating a paper trail is the best way to protect yourself, and also the company you work for (if you give a crap about them that is) in the event of any future problems. As a former restaurant manager for 13 years it would always royally piss me off that someone would either quit, or complain to other co-workers at the same level about over a problem that was EASILY fixable.. or people who were slacking in their job or hurting the company.

You'll always have difficulties in your job the higher up the ladder you go. Also if your manager has any common sense you'll show that you are not afraid to make upper level decisions and also it will show that you care about the company- thus the next time a promotion comes up you may be first in line because they know you care, and aren't afraid to deal with a problem when it arises.

I did speak with my manager.

She assured me that the most incompentent of the bunch has been put on probation. I said, that's good, but we have to make sure there are consequences, because he doesn't appear to be taking anything seriously. I agreed with her that everyone deserves a chance, but also said he has had a chance and working with him puts me seriously behind.

I mentioned a problem with my assistant. He creates some chaos when he works. She didn't know this was going on, so hopefully she will talk it over with him.

I talked directly with Tom and he said he had been feeling really guilty about the way he talked about me behind my back, and that he realized how inappropriate it was.

I asked her why she threatened to fire the best new person, and she said this was a miscommunication. We talked about some of the problems with the new people.

I highly doubt that too much will be fixed, except the stuff about my assistant. I work with Chris (this idiot on probation) this Friday, and will keep a close eye on him.

We're still having stupid excuses from the new people. One girl claimed she couldn't work because she was hemorraging (sp?). Bullshit. I'm sorry, she was just having a heavy period. Everyday she's in the hospital for something new. And she now has a 'sleeping disorder.' Unfortunately, she actually is the best of all the new people.

LMAO I heard of this one before when I was manger of movie up stairs with my two worker that one do mornings, and two at nights. I do major repiars, breakdown, buildup, and make sure they run right and get those films. So I had a lady said the same crap from what you just said and I knew she was lie so much. How I know well I busted her with her boyfriend having sex on my desk  and also it was the day she called in sick.

Well I did told them to get dress and told boyfriend to get out and lady to stay in when I work on the paper work from what she did and she was fired in the next business day.

OH yeah as I work on the paper work I give her a bucket and rag to clean my desk up as I work on paper work..... EEEEWWW who knows how long this been going on and it mad me MAD. :x

sounds like all in all you just have a crappy job and regardless if things could get fixed.. it might be time to look elsewhere.

as for the constant medical problems thing-we had an employee like that start that as soon as her benefits started. She thought she would be all fine and dandy b/c of the FMLA act not to lose her job.. what she didn't realize is we don't offer short term disability (its a family run small restaurant and we don't have that kind of money to offer something like that) so she wasn't going to get paid, and she still had to pay her part of the insurance.. as soon as she let that lapse.. guess what her policy would lapse too. Its tough when you find someone who has potential, but either truly IS ill (I've had a bad period before where I could hardly walk because of cramps.. so yeah I stayed home from work..and my sister was actually hemorrhaging(spelling accordint to word;) ) once when she thought it was just a bad period..) or is just a weirdo who constantly has to find something wrong with them, even though its usually in their heads.

It also sounds like your manager is pretty inept at his/her job, or they just don't care that subpar work is being done. Everything said, its time to visit monster.com :)

Just go out and hire "Tony" to take care of it all, in the end you will end up owning half of the store, but "Tony's" "Boss" will own the other half.

Ok here's 45 years of living and recent experience talking -- and yeah maybe your own Mom would say the same thing (reason enuf to ignore the whole statement).

Take this whole job issue and look at it like this: If you were to die tomorrow and had the opportunity to look back, would you be glad that you stayed in a job that made you miserable enough to post on here about it? If the answer is no - ditch the job and find another. You definately sound smart from everything I've seen on here so that shouldn't be a problem. When it comes down to it, the only things worth living for are happiness, friends and family. Your job takes up about 50% of your life -- why waste it there?

Hmm I don't want to be broken - but Yarr consider this -- would you really rather her coming to you all bitchy all the time because of the job ?

One more note -- from a woman's view lol

Sad/frustrated/mad -- your chances of getting anything from her are slim to none

A Happy woman is a frisky woman

who said she has to quit her current job before she finds a new one? At least where I come from thats a silly thing to do. The only time you ever quit a job before you have another one already lined up is if you are relocating or something (like me. I moved from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania.. but I planned to not have a job for a bit).
