That is to say Civilian and otherwise non military Aid beyond what they get in the military. I.e. the same scholarships you're so proud of and say they are too "ignorant" now to get thmselves.

And to spell it out for you. Those of us who are in any branch of the military, defending your scholarship winning self, don't take kindly to being called ignorant poor, or told that we can't get other "real" or implied "signficant" jobs/work. Particularly when for the majority of soldiers its simply not true.

I don't think you realize, Dinav, that we're sending our own citzens into a dangerous, unfamilar, scary situation. They know that they could very well die, and yet they still take the job. THat's something I just COULDN'T do. And it seems like you aren't eager to sign up either. So to call these soldiers "ignorant poor persons" who can't find jobs, well, that's just being a dick, plain and simple.

Dinav, Pat tillman had one of the greatest careers available, instead he chose to defend his country in Afghanistan. Hepassed on serving for his country. He passed on a 3 million dollar contract to serve America, think before you speak.

1. I'm pointing out Political Policy.

2. I never called everyone ignorant. I said that the Army targets the ignorant, and recruits a majority of ignorant people.

3. I never said it's not a real job.

4. I still respect people in the army.

5. I never stated a clearly defined ignorance in all things. Some people don't excell in school, but are perfect for the military, etc.

6. I never said me living in a bad neighborhood made me a soldier. I just said I'm not rich.


Even better, I agree with the fucking program. It gives people jobs and fills a public service roll. People have a right to education and the Army gives it to them. God, fuck being attacked by people who won't READ MY POSTS.

Ok - my first comment is that Dinav has the right to his opinion. Part of what our soldiers stand for is the freedom of speech. We also have that freedom and it shows in this forum. I also have the right to my opinion.

I will only comment on this thread once -- I have no intention of getting into a big argument about this with people.

I don't think I need to rehash my old post about my husband. I will tell you this tho. He was FAR from ignorant. Bill was in the army for 20 years and retired as a LTC. Yes - the army paid for his education. Did he come from a poor family - NO. He is one of 5 children. Out of those 5 children the 3 sons were/are all associated with the military in some form.
He retired as a LTC and our salary was in the neighborhood of 50k a year. At the time of his death, he was working for a civilian firm (He was the VP of Civil Engineering/Project Manager) - his salary at that time was more than 3x that of the army pay. Why did he stay in the service all those years? Simply put -- so that people like Dinav can speak their ignorant opinions.

Yes, he knew what the risks of his job were. We both knew the risks for the 20 yrs in service and the time following when he continued to do what he did as a civilian. Let's take a couple of more people who's job is to protect and care for the rest of us. Let's take firemen and policemen who put their lives on the line to protect us and degenerate them now ? Does it make Bill's death less painful because you think that in some way I was prepared for it? HELL NO. What is painful is to come here and see someone take everything he stood for and tell me that what he did was worthless.
