lol... I remember this being funny about 6 years ago when it first came out.
Man... These are the kinds of threads that I live for. I pay 21 bucks a month for my crappy internet connection, so that I can surround myself with people who will entertain me via their razor-sharp wit and keen internet bantor.
Unfortunately for me, everything worth saying has already been said about 2 or 3 times now, so my chances of not being redundant are slim.
The crux of the deal is that this all boils down to Aiame and Dragonb. Those willing to defend Aiame, or her past/present actions are somewhat slim. Event Murph hasn't gone to any great lengths to defend her actions. Because of this, I think there is substantial validity to the accusations. I was in the linkshell when all this happened, and I do remember seeing seemingly trite issues used as a basis for important decisions (e.g. Amemet).
As for Dragonb, you all can say he's a super nice guy, and all that, whatever. I don't care. I don't really know the guy, because he didn't really leave himself open to being known. What I do know, is he won't talk at all about the issue. People who are convicted of crimes are given their miranda rights. One of those rights includes the well-known, "You have the right to remain silent." This is also called, "Pleading the 5th." The problem with this is 99% of the time when someone "Pleads the 5th" they admit their guilt through silence. If you are innocent, why be ashamed/afraid of talking about your innocence?
So if all of this turmoil is focused around two members, how come there is this looming CKD vs Monarchy tension? Well, it's because of the saying, "Shit rolls downhill." It's also the same reason why people say the United States is stupid, because George "The Chimp" Bush is the president. And it's justified to an extent. To be horribly upset that you get labeled as something, because of the actions and stage presence of those leading you is a tad absurd. If you are so vehemently going to fight to defend yourself and distance yourself from the negative opinion surrounding your leader, why support them? You can damn well bet that I voted for fucking Kerry in the last election.
Perhaps the analogy is kind of lame, because you have less mobility between countries than you do with linkshells, but whatever. The point that you are going to be grouped with those who lead you remains and will always remain. So don't be so damned surprised when you receive flak from being in the Monarchy, because of Dragonb's and Aiame's actions.
As for Murph, Crimsonsan and Icy, I don't really know what to say. You are welcome to leave a linkshell for whatever reason you like. But if you are unwilling to accept the general publics perception of that reason, then you are living in a dream world.
Murph, you were not in the linkshell long, and when you were, you didn't say much. Because of this, I didn't really get to know you. I'm not going to hold anything against you for past actions, because I don't feel there is any need to. I will, however, point out that you've got some balls to walk into the lion's den and start blithering on in some sanctimonious manner. That being said, I hope your balls aren't too hairy, and that you wash them frequently, 'cause otherwise that's just gross. Oh, and don't say that you did gods with both the Monarchy and CKD to 'hone' your skills, or to benefit CKD. It is a well-known fact that HNM linkshells are independent from eachother by design, because of the fierce competition that accompanies this game. Melo was forced to leave CKD by his other HNM linkshell because of this reason, and each and every person in CKD still adores the hell out of him. That dedication to 'honing' your skills isn't a very good justification for breaking rules. What it sounds like is KFC. Doing whatever it takes so that they can get the kill. Sure, they could say that they were just 'honing' their king-killing techniques, but we all know their true motives.
Crims got a Vivian's ring and maybe some abjuration, but that's about it. He's also wise in his relatively silence in the issue, as I'm sure he knows better than to step in and try to fight a losing internet forum war.
Icy... As for the 100k. That's a neat little jab you thrust towards Yarr. hah hah Some more of that lovely internet wit that I pay my 21 bucks a month for. Frankly, I'm surprised you'd say something, but since you did, and since I'm such a nice guy and believe in equality, it'd be horrible for me to enjoy such a comment without offering one of my own to help spread joy around the internet. So here you go. When Dragonb quit the LS, I spoke with Aiame directly about it, asking her if she would talk to Dragonb. (At the time I was still a bit naive as to the whole underlying rift that was the foundation to this all) I genuinely thought that she would help. Anyway, she told me, "I don't want to get involved." OMG, AIAME, I'M SURE YOU'RE READING THIS, SO PLEASE MAKE THIS ALL FAIR AND SQUARE AS A LEADER, KTHX. Oh wait, dozens of people have tried to get you to do this already to no avail. oh well.
If you don't want to be judged in the same way that your leaders are judged, then I suggest you uninstall FFXI, go outside and have your best friend punch you in the face with five fingers of reality, because you're obviously not living it. Yarr can be rather hot-headed at times, sure, but if that's
all he is, then you can damn well bet I will fully support him and the linkshell he's played a major role in creating. You don't see that many people defending Aiame. They simply skate around that fact and form other means of defense.
