yeah! thank god I spent most of my childhood reading so much, else I'd be screwed like lazy.
Did you go to catholic school all the way through?
You need to work hard lazy, if your planning on going to college.. they just raised the standards for acceptance..

*edit*
ps my father and grandfather both went to jesuit!
and I had 11 years of catholic school >_____< I dropped out when I was a senior and got a GED(omg I could of passed this test when I was a freshman), went to college early hehe.

Go to community college once you graduate from High school. Just for 2yrs or so. Colleges wont give a damn how you did in High school if you have good/decent grades in college, plus you would be a transfer which help you get a degree faster.

First thing you need to do is talk to your teacher. To be honest, I was failing my 12th Grade AP English class because I failed to do the actual "written" vocabulary log, which ironically was only having to write them down, not the actual test part (which I passed just fine). Most teachers realize students don't want to go to summer school, and are really only concerned with make sure you learn the subject material. Often, you will find that they will work with you on your grades if you offer to do some sort of makeup work in lieu of the actual work that you failed to do, or more accurately, failed to pass.

When you speak with him/her, try to be as "polite" as possible, and explain your situation. Do not tell him/her that you don't want to do summer school because it will cut into your FFXI time. If you show your teacher that you know the subject material and exhibit that you have a "passing" understanding of English, they will assist you in the grades department. If however, you don't put any effort into learning the subject and just want to get a "90" to avoid learning English, don't expect them to pony up.

Quote:
1. have impossible vocab quizes (cumulative) we are up to 500 words now

I suggest you start going through the list and using the words in sentences so that you get to know them, or at the very least have a semblance of understanding of what they mean. If I'm not mistaken, the times we had those quizes way back when in the stone ages, the quiz was 75% of the new words with about 25% of the old words tossed in to make it cumulative. Focus on the new ones, but try to go back and learn the old ones when possible. Many people find the best way to learn vocabulary is to make a word or two for the day and attempt to use it in a sentence whenever possible. Yes, your friends might find this a bit geeky, but it's not half as geeky as having to attend summer school.

Quote:
2. never learnd the 7(its 7 right?) parts of speech

Learn them.

Quote:
3. suck at grammar

Read "regular" sources of English whenever possible. While most people can learn the rules of grammar, it's impossible for most to apply them unless they see it in action. I suggest reading the newspaper or the variety of news related websites whenever possible.

Quote:
4. suck at writeing a paper

Add spelling to the list. But in all seriousness, this is probably related to number 4. If you have bad grammar, than generally speaking you will get a poor grade on written papers. The only other "part" of a paper is your imagination, and that's something most teenagers have in large quantity. Most teachers just want a paper that is coherent, not publishing perfect.

Quote:
5. Play FFXI

Stop reading Engrish.

if you went to private school in LA it probably wasn't all too bad, but the public schools are horrible lol. I went to Catholic school for 12 years but my best friend went to East St. John High and their classes were a friggin joke there lol.

Yea Darksoul is friends with Dinav irl so im assuming they are both from N.O. also i think i remember Grimfandango saying he is also from N.O.

hi i live in new orleans, la.

vaelen, remember? i'm iggy's gf, its possible we've even "met" before, since i use to go to phoenix larp religiously (pss come check out dreamscape).

um i went to 11years of catholic school. st louis king of france > archbishop chapelle(i dont want to hear the jokes). dropped when i was a senior. went to grace king(public) for a whole month, then dropped that because it was such a joke. going from private to public is like going to some third world country...
got my ged in like a week, started university of new orleans a semester early.
