Well, I'm kinda late in getting this game... but I'm fucking loving it. My only problem is that I tend to kill all the enemies on screen. ;/ And apparently you aren't supposed to. Does anyone have any tips for someone who sucks. Haha.

It's possible to complete the game without killing anyone at all, and it's what you're supposed to aim for.

The Tranquilizer Gun is your friend, forget sneaking around, just put anything and everything to sleep, it lasts a long time (on Normal anyway) and you get to run around pretty much freely.

Put on a high camo index (like 50%+ if you can pull it off) and just run around, if someone spots you your high camo index should stop them from realising what you are right away, and they'll come to investigate instead of just setting the alarms off. Simply retreat back to a corner or the bushes or something, wait for the soldier who saw you to come over, and use first person view to shoot them in the head with the Tranq. They'll be out cold for 5-10 minutes, giving you easy passage through.

When you think the area is clear, be sure to go around and "shake" bodies for supplies, tap [] (without weapon equipped) over their bodies to pick them up and drop them again, and they'll drop ammo and stuff, usualy works twice. The important things to pick up here are Rations, more Tranq ammo, and Suppressors (so people can't hear your Tranq gun firing off).

If you set the alarm off, you can no longer "zone" to reset hate (it used to work in MGS1 and 2, lol.) so you've actually gotta hide now. Find a nice hiding spot like bushes or something, but don't hide in them until you're sure nobody can see you (kill anyone that can, your Tranq won't help you very much), which is indicated by the Alarm status not being 99.99.

After that, dive into your hiding spot and pull the tranq out, and sleep any soldiers that try to search your hiding spot, and sleep any soldiers that see sleeping soldiers before they wake em up, lol. There can only be so many soldiers after you at once, so if you keep sleeping them as they come looking eventually the alarm will wear off.

And that's my mini-survaval guide. :P

It's a little boring sometimes though, feel free to spice it up, pretty much anything you think of will work. You can throw empty clips at walls to get soldiers attention, you can sneak (hold d-pad instead of anolog stick)behind soldiers and pull our your gun to "stick em up", and you can even find Porno Mags to leave lying around to distract soldiers, lol.

i agree w/ ket about using the tranq gun, use it as much as possible. Get used to using the right analog stick though, because w/o radar it can be frustrating trying to get somewhere.

As for bosses, if you kill them in a non leathal way, you get their special camo which gives you different attributes according to the camo.

other than that, take your time, enjoy the game, cuz it rox!

I really enjoy MGS though I sold my PS2 a long time ago after Sons of Liberty =/. However the remake of the first one on GC, the Twin Snakes, was really really good.

BIG thumbs up for MGS series

MGS3 is amazing. Only item im missing is the stealth camo cause I missed like one freaking frog. Remember that the directional pad makes you stalk but uses up stamina. You can also throw snakes and other poisonous creatures at guards to kill them too. Its a really fun and hard game to play. And of course there are the easter eggs!

Equip a box and call Signt. Its really funny.

Same thing when you equip the patriot or weird camo you get off the guards.

if your having trouble beating The End. Just save your game and set your Ps2 clock a week ahead. When you come back The End will have died from old age! :P

Make sure to use TNT on the armory and food warehouse sheds. Guards will become slower and will take less to subdue.

here are some more.

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file ... ecrets.txt

Not as many as MGS2 yet but I hope with the stealth camo I can find a lot of funny stuff.

PSP is awesome, but the only game I'm enjoying for it atm is Lumines.

On topic, MGS3 is probably the best game I have played in 2004/2005 so far. I had so much fun with the gameplay and the in depth story I literally played it through a 2nd time.

Some things that are fun are when you "stick" a person up, you can hold a weapon to their face to make them shake out supplies/rations/etc. Also, in every zone (area) there are a few people with radios attached to their chest that blinks red. Take them (or the radios) out and no matter how many times you get caught, no reinforcements will come.

Also, if you do get caught, I have so much fun just killing every person that comes after you, believe it or not, there's a limit to how many people are sent after you. You can also shoot a person's legs to slow them down.

The CQC is pretty fun to play with too. The second time I played through I cleared most areas by sneaking up behind a person and killing them by strangulation.

If you haven't noticed yet, your food will spoil (you can tell by 1 or 2 fly-looking things on the boxes) if you like, grab food and then stop playing for a few hours. You "could" reset the clock but I think doing stuff like that is stupid  Just toss them at starving guards and watch them squirm. Oh and for The End, thermal goggles are your friend.

Omgomg Metal Gear Solid 4, Yes, Please.

Where do you get those thermal goggles? I read you need to use them when fighting The Fear, but I didn't have them so I had lots of troubles killing him. Now I'm at The End where I seem to need them again, still don't have em...

Thermal Goggles are right near the beginning of the second mission.

If you remember, upon reaching the place where you rescused Sokolov from for the second time, you get attacked by the Ocelot Unit. I can't remember what the name of the place is but it's near the beginning of the game basically.

The Thermal Goggles are inside one of the lockers there. I'm not sure if you can pick them up again elsewhere if you miss them, you usually can in MGS games, the important items are usually found in easier to find places later on if you don't already have it.

However, you'll probably want to go back and get them just incase. Gonna be a long walk though.

the end is the hardest of all the bosses IMO because he uses camo and he snipes. Important part about that end is to know where he camps and make sure you kill his bird(he sees through the birds eyes). Also, you can sneak up behind him and hit him, but its really hard to do that. Just dont let him sneak behind you, because it will be game over.

There is another trick to beating him, but i dont want to spoil it

theres a little shack in the north west area of the north map, its kinda hard to fight him w/o it (but it can be done)

I spent an entire day fighting The End. It was by far the most challenging and exciting fights of my gaming career. I just played sniper with him becuase at the time i didn't know he had a bird  . Near the end of the day I had ran down all his stamina and we had a shoot out at the waterfall. It was pretty fun. MGS 3 is great

This is the BEST MGS ever im not joking...After you beat the last boss you get to see how MGS 1 and 2 start. What really annoyed me was the fight with the end he piss the shit outta me. I won't spoil it but beat the whole game because the end credits tell you how foxhound started and about the 3 snakes blah blah i won't ruin it but seriously you got to beat it, it answers a bunch of questions that you may be confused about from MGS 1 and 2. About Camo now make sure to always have about 60%+ try to look at the terrain and find stuff around you to hind with. Also smoke grenades/stun grenades dart gun and that SWS combat crap is your friend. By learning to grab someone from behind with O button then pressing L3 you can find stuff out on what to do.

I think Hideo was ON acid when he made it...

Hideo wasn't involved in the making of Metal Gear AC!D unlike all of the recent previous titles. My little bro has it and all i can say is that it doesn't "feel" like an MGS title but more like a Tactics (final fantasy tactics)esque game.

Sorry to be off topic.
