You have ghetto coasters, how do you live with yourself? I would simply DIE if I was seperated from my jewel encrusted golden coasters.

I think the guide was made before AF. Back when dinosaurs roamed Vanadiel before the great meteor!

Back when "KingNoahtehRoxx0r" took 2 of each race and saved them so they could screw each other over on HNM's and MPK.

Omfg I used to think that book was god. Now I read it and laugh. It's interesting how wrong they are on alot of stuff. They glorified PLD/WHM as an {Impossible to Guage} undead killer and I actually had a friend try and level it b/c of that XD. Good stuff.

I think the FFXI guide is great actually! You know the headaches you can give annoying siblings by rolling up a book that size and putting it upside their head?
It is a bit dissapointing though......I would have preffered the guide to be the one in pain...

LOL I <3ed this guide when it was new.. My advice: Don't take any of the books advice unless you want to die. The only thing i have it for still is the crafting guide in the back which kinda sucks because you have to estimate the level cap of the synth -.-

That guide maligned me when i was new... thank god I learned fast, and learned that thing is the biggest lie since... uh... the last biggest lie.

Quote:
White Mage: Level white mage to sub for paladin, so you will have a larger mp pool.

Sadly, that was one of the things that got me... I was actually planning on playing PLD/WHM...

I think I might have also planned on doing the whole NIN/RDM thing.... and a lot of other things that book recommends

Damn Brady, i should dig out that guide for a good laugh.

Even those aren't accurate.

If I remember correctly the book has sturmwind listed as a closing ws for distortion. Going off the the top of my head Sturmwind can end reverberation and fragmentation only. So, the skillchain chart is trash too.

Rdm did have the spell flash at 37 it was removed in a patch prior to the level cap being raised.

I always snicker on how dragoon was described as having imense mobility - as if to suggest we could jump on our wyverns and merrily fly away off into the sunset.

Oddly enough this was written in a time where riding chocobo, changing subjob, even temp logging would eradicate your wyvern. Dragoon was anything but mobile even remotely defined. You would have to haul ass and walk to everything. ><

"Dragoon soloing is intended as a quick way to get to your home point more than anything else" -I don't know how to take that one.

"Dragoons have more fun fighting with low-evasion monsters....The job's modest dexterity makes it important to avoid fast enemies, for down that path lies frustration." -Completely disregarding the fact that dragoon has some of the best inate accuracy in the entire game. ^^;

I also like how it tries to encourage bards to sub thf to get more drops for your party.

I suppose it could have been worse but looking back as I took this guide a lot more seriously when the game was first made commercially available makes me laugh. It was like equip brady game guide book has the effect of nobbiness +75%.

Fun with RDM errors in the book-

Cure V at level 73- No.

Dia III at 61- I wish.

Thunder III isn't even mentioned for 75. Neither is Blizzard III at 73 for that matter.

As a RDM, a player suffers from the curse of many magic users, low HP. Apparently having up tp 1300 HP at level 75 is low HP oO. Even with all my convert HP>MP gear I still have over 1k, which is more than enough.

As far as staves are concerned, they are two handed weapons that prevent you from using a shield-- a definite disadvantage. I'll let you know how having like 40 staff skill and around 78 attack is working for me in terms of damage dealing, Brady Games. Thanks!

Another thing I never understood, and it's only because I was looking through the weapon list, why are RDM able to equip hand to hand weapons? Like I know they have no staff skill, but most RDM only use the elemental staves, which are all jobs. I just don't understand the point of having Indra Katars being RDM equippable. ;p

more useful info:

The two strongest monsters is Valkurm Dunes are Orc's Wyvern (lvl30) and Goblin's Dragonfly (lvl30). Also in Jugner Forest you'll find yet another Orc's Wyvern (lvl30). Hell, Orc's Wyvern is the same monster family as Ladon, Hurricane Wyvern, and Ungur, so it must be scary and strong. But whatever you do, don't go to Buburimu. The strongest monster there is the feared Goblin's Rabbit, which, at a steep level 70, totally wreaks havok across that beach.
