I mean really. The PC gaming market is already crappy enough. The next gen systems are going to all be online, super fast, super detailed and do just about anything a PC can do.

I mean look at it this way

Gaming PC = 3k
Next Gensystem =300-500 bucks

I really think something is going to have to happen for the PC Gaming Scene to keep up.

Next gen won't beat PC in my eyes until they release compatible keyboard and mouse for FPS.

I don't know. PC gaming is so limited compared to other system options.

I basically went from PS > PC and kinda miss the feeling of waiting for new console games to come out. I use to love reading "Nintendo Power Mag" every month. I was a pretty big dork cause I would just sit around reading about all the new games coming out.

The thrill really isn't there in PC gaming since all the games are basically the same. When I switched to PC I thought it was a big step forward but nowadays compared to the new systems out there... I realize it's actually a couple steps backward.

Those exist. Besides, gaming isn't all about FPS.

I don't think so because PCs are constantly under developement and get better almost every day while a console, the day it comes out has impressive specs that matches that of the current gaming PC, it's specs will eventually become outdated because it can't be upgraded untill a new generation, which takes 3-4 years.
Much like how it went with the PSX and PS2; how impressed we all were with their graphical power the day they came out. But PC technology catches up quickly, takes the lead back and leaves the console far behind in terms of specs after a year or 2. The next gen consoles we'll be seeing this year await no different fate, I'm sure. That's why PC gaming will always come out as the winner.
PCs are expensive but gamers have to buy them anyway eventually so they can keep up, also, PC games are usually ~10 bucks cheaper than console games.

can i look at porn on my new consoles? (dun think so) =D

PC for teh win, im not gonna buy the new crap cause most games come out on PC anyways and you can upgrade most things in the pc and with this the console if just one part breaks, buy new system or wait 5-7 weeks for new one =/

where'is with PC you might be able to live wihtout it but im sure the part si way cheaper than the consoles (depending on yoursystem)

Hey Pirato, games aren't all about graphics either. And I'm talking about licensed shit, I don't ever get third party if I can help it. If they released some more decent games for PC I'd be more interested. But all I see at work is FPS.. FPS.. FPS.. oh look, Civ, Myst, Tycoon series. Aside from MMORPG, I'd like to see some cool multiplayer games again, like Starcraft, Warcraft, Diabolo. To me, PC is just like the same rehash of console games year after year with better graphics, but at least on console or hand held, occasional gems appear that make it worth it.

I know games aren't all about graphics, I'm not a graphic whore myself, in fact I'm still riding a now 2 year old rig with a just as dated video card.
But if you wanna make a game today and rest assured that you'll haul in billions of dollars 2 minutes after you release it, it's gonna have to be an FPS with state of the art graphics.
That's the truth about today's gaming industry and that's why PC wil never fall to consoles, because PC graphics improve on an almost daily base.

I was just giving my reply to the question "Are the next Gen Gaming systems going to sink PC gaming?", which I say is "no". I'm keeping any opinions on what games are better out of this.

excuse the long post, im bored and wanna type.

As far as games: PCs dont really have a wide variety of games out there (MMOs, FPS, action, Strategy, cards, etc). When a new game comes out for the computer, it isnt going to get as much publicity as lets say, Grand Theft Auto: San Andres. Then again, when a game from a platform is ported to a PC because the company thinks "Oh, we sold lots for ps2, why not try computers?" thing is, all the people that would play it on the computer, already have it on PS2/GC/Xbox. How many of you actually played through the computer FF7?
Also, it depends on your gaming habbits. A person that his been playing on a nintendo system for all his life isnt going to all of a sudden start playing a PC. Sure, you can buy a controller for the computer, but its still an akward fealing sitting behind a desk, monitor, whatever.
Another point is programability. With platforms, you are given a certain system specification you can program to, where as w/ computers you have to consider your average joe E-machin all the way to your super duper 2000+ gaming rigs.
And no offence to stupid ppl, but anyone can play a console, you just put in the disk and go, whereas on a computer you have to install, update, tweak, etc. So by having a simple system you dont have to scare ppl away with "technology"

As for the systems: I think that platforms are going to gain some popularity. With Xbox Live being such a hit, i think a lot of the companies are going to start trying to go online, cuz it offers more depth to your games, and an extra source of monthly income from the consumers. Also, graphics will be better, so your brand name games: legend of zelda, metal gear solid, halo, etc are almost guaranteed to come out and sell well.
But the PC shouldnt lose any momentum. Like many of yall said, PCs change very quickly. Sure your graphics arent as good, just wait a few months till the next batch of cards are out and kick the platforms' asses. Most ppl will buy a platform when they come out, but they arent going to ditch their PCs! But ya, there needs to be something that introduces computers into the mainstream gaming scene, because there is so much potential in a computer's abilities, just the ordinary public just needs to see it.

Omg this topic over a month old but whatever. I agree with you on that point Pirato; the main games that make PC gamers keep upgrading and keep playing are all FPS. They have to keep up to date graphics, because that is one thing they have going for them over consoles. Now, if you've seen some PR Microsoft has been doing, they are trying their damn best to make their 360 more of a household commodity then a PC itself, lol. Personally, I think consoles have much more to offer to many genre gamers, but I do think that for people that enjoy their PC games (myself included) there's plenty to look forward to besides just upgrading graphics. (Playing WoW atm  )

I only upgraded my PC for MMORPGs...most of the other PC games suck (thats my opinion lol. I am NOT a FPS fan). other games I play on my xbox/ps2/NGC and handhelds. I dont think PC gaming will die...but more ppl will play games on a console
