More stuff coming. Anyone sick of waiting for updates in FFXIV should come Terraria's way.
Hello guys,
(And Redpillow)
I had a couple of PMs asking me for another blog post, so I tore myself away from my paintbrush and grid paper long enough to bring you some updates on the content of 1.0.5. Some of this has been mentioned before, but I thought I'd recap for those of you that might have missed it.
First of all. Hardcore mode.
Hardcore mode completely changes how you play Terraria. If you're a fan of roguelikes, spelunky or any other game where death means the end of your character, you know how tense and exciting the gameplay becomes as you battle to keep your character alive. Hardcore mode is a character specific option, meaning it won't affect your worlds or multiplayer but you need to be extra careful if you decide to take a hardcore character online.
I look forwards to seeing how far you guys can take your hardcore mode characters!
Next up we have a whole ton of biome, monster and item updates. I don't want to spoil these for everyone by being too specific. But many of the more empty biomes have been populated. There are new monsters to battle and new items to find. The world is more alive than ever and still growing.

But what would a world be without its inhabitants? We very aware that Terraria's Guide has become quite the icon of infamy amongst the community and we wanted to make him a little more useful. The Guide has been brushing up on his crafting knowledge and if you show him an item he's able to tell you exactly what you can craft with it!
The Final thing I want to tell you about is the new alchemy system. Alchemy in Terraria has always been quite simplistic and we felt it wasn't meeting its potential. So we've overhauled the system completely, added a wealth of new and varied ingredients, a range of recipes, potions and an awesome new player buff system. Potions can help players seek out rare ores, allow them to walk on water, improve their agility and much more. The potions tie in very nicely with the new hardcore mode, giving players alternative ways to survive when their options are limited.
So all of this is coming to 1.0.5 and more. I can't wait to play hardcore mode with you all. I'll leave you with some screenshots, see if you can guess what the buffs are
Take care!

I like that walk on ceilings / reverse gravity buff. Reminds me of "VVVVVV".
