When is EQ2 coming out?
It is already out
Can I talk/party/trade with the members of the other faction?
Why yes you can. There are some limitations, mainly involving guilds and the selling system. basically Guilds are city aligned, and while they can have members of the opposing faction, thos emembers can't earn Status points for the guild ( which are earned through city based quests). And When you sell items in one city they are only listed on the brokers of that city. There is a black market but there's a 40-50% additional cost buying that way ( although the alternative is traveling to the enemy city and sneaking to the seller's house).
Will it be hard for me, race X, and my friend, race Y, to play together?
If you're both good or both evil, np. If you're opposite its quite risky to make the trek to the opposing city's areas pre-20 or so, but fully possible. Once there its No problem, baring being unable to fully access the city there. There ar emerchants and quests available to all outside the city also.
Is experience just from grinding? How fast do I gain levels?
Like Wow, you can, especially, at low levels earn signifcant portions of your level from quests. At mid-levels+ a quest can still give you over 10% of a level ( plus whatever you got killing the mbos required), but they are signficantly harder and more time intensive than the low level ones. There are quests you can do solo at all level buts its quite difficult to tell which are which, and the xp rewards are typically less.
Many quests serve well to direct you to kill mobs you might otherwise have ignored ( maybe they in a out of the way dungeon, or slightly stronger than weaker mob types).
When grinding xp progresses steadily, but it is not at all fast. Which is why it is ncie that you can spend several hours grinding on various mobs make several bubbles, and then go turn in a quest and get a bubble or two more.
What are quests like?
Well, above I mentioned the most basic type which is basically Talk to soandso and kill X mobs in y place. possibly multiple stages.
There are also errand quests, Catalogue quests ( which require you to cast a non aggro spell on various mobs to catalogue them), collection quest ( basically pick up crap off the ground), as well as Lore and language quests which can allow you to learn the story or language of enemy monsters. Which is Fun. take gnolls of example typically they sound like barking, but after you learn the language you can understand the insults and various curses they toss your way.
Can you describe combat a little?
Its fast, pretty, but ultimately boils down to you do your abilities by pushing buttons while a pretty light show goes on. Multiple mob encounters are normal for a group to face and crowd control is typically in short supply, but thankfully not neccesary. Out of combat regen is quick so with even a sub par party set up you can be killing regularly, if not continuously.
Am I forced to party? Can any class solo?
Any class can solo. At any level.
This is not necessarily the ideal for that person, since there is content in the game that is not meant to be soloed. Dungeons, in general, are not for a single person.
I personally would like to reiterate that there is by far more group content than solo, and that many of the "cooler" or better rewards all require grouping. That said soloing while LFG or evne while taking a storll across the country side, or to finish up old quests you never finished, is quite profitable and a good use of one's time.
Sheer XP efficney wise, a group will beat out a a soloer all the time post 15 or so. as for small groups of 2-3 people they can take on group ecounters( lower level) for significantly better xp than soloing, maybe even as good as a full group.
How is the PvP? Am I forced to PvP?
There is no pvp. Not even duels at this point.
How does death work? Do I lose experience when I die?
When you die you become a face down corpse, you can't see much of the immediate area at all. At this point you have 2 options. 1) get a rez, or 2) release to a nearby camp, typically you have a choice of camps. in a dungeon the camp is almost always within a short walk of the entrance.
The Penalty for death is as follows:
Shard- if you release you leave a shard. Missing this shard gives you a penalty to your stats ( a good chunk too).
Equipment dmg - you need to repair your gear if you die to much. 10 deaths without repair = your gear becomes unusable/unequipable. Repair costs varies based on the level of the gear. typically its reasonable for the level you're at.
Xp Debt ( basically half your xp goes to paying debt rather than leveling). If you release and leave a shard the debt is about 3 times as much as normal, but recovering the shard removes all of that excess. Dying in a group shares the debt with the group. Additional debt from releasing is not shared. a TPW before shards is about 35% of a level worth of debt. After shards its less than 15%. At higher levels there are evac and such options so a TPW is less likely. If some folks survive the debt is less.
Is this game too easy? Is leveling too fast?
leveling takes time, and grouping benefits from coordination. The game however typically isn't that hard as long as you follow the guideline the game gives for you. basically don't try and solo group mobs, Don't try group mobs more than a few levels above you. Named mobs, even those designed for a single group ARE stronger than the norm so be sure tot ake that into account.
Multiple mob pulls, and adds and such are common, and can quite easily end in party wipes, but they are typically avoidable, or survivable.
What is the "endgame" going to be like? Surely there's more to do after the level grind is over!
